Health Insurance Information for Academic Year 2022-2023
Roger Williams University requires all law students (JD and MSL) to have adequate health insurance coverage. Roger Williams University has partnered with University Health Plans to offer a comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan for our students. All School of Law students (JD & MSL) are automatically enrolled in and billed for the University's Student Health Insurance Plan. Students who provide proof of adequate coverage under an existing plan may waive the University's Student Health Insurance Plan.
All students are required to complete an online enrollment or waiver form by August 15, 2022. Students who do not complete an online waiver will be automatically enrolled in and billed for the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan.

Coverage Period: August 14, 2022 – August 13, 2023
Annual premium: $2,470
Deadline to waive coverage: August 15, 2022
Enrollment and Waiver Process:
Please visit University Health Plans to enroll or waive coverage. Students will need their student ID number and date of birth. New students will receive their student ID numbers via email in mid-June.

If you are having problems with your RWU student ID number, law students should contact the Office of Student Finance & Records at 401-254-4657.
If a student is currently insured under another insurance policy that is comparable to the RWU Student Health Insurance Plan and does not wish to have coverage under the University sponsored plan, the student may waive out of the insurance by completing the waiver form by August 15, 2022. It is important you review your current insurance policy to confirm it meets the following criteria:
- Your plan must be ACA compliant.
- Your plan must provide insured benefits for doctors, hospitals, labs, pharmacies and behavioral health providers in Rhode Island.
- Services must be accessible in Rhode Island near the Roger Williams campus.
